A barrel bolt is a simple, reliable locking mechanism that secures doors and windows by sliding a bolt into a strike plate. The National Hardware N248-492 is a 2-inch steel barrel bolt finished in white, designed to blend with painted trim and interior finishes while providing dependable security. It’s ideal for windows, doors, and other applications where you need a secure latch.
This compact bolt solves multiple problems at once: it adds security without requiring electricity or complex installation, and it can help prevent accidental opening while maintaining a clean, finished appearance on any door or window frame. Whether you’re retrofitting an older home, completing new construction, or simply upgrading your door and window hardware, a quality barrel bolt offers a discreet security upgrade with minimal visual impact.
