The Square D QO816L100SCP is a 100-amp main lug load center designed to expand electrical capacity when additional circuits are needed beyond what a primary service panel provides. This indoor-rated panel serves as a sub-panel or add-on unit that connects downstream from your main breaker load center, making it ideal for homes and installations requiring extra circuit capacity without replacing the entire electrical distribution system.
Main lug load centers like this one do not contain an internal main breaker; instead, they rely on the upstream main panel for overcurrent protection. This design is commonly used when more circuits are needed. The surface-mount cover allows for quick, straightforward installation in any room or location.
